Post-mortem photography reached it’s peak in the late 19th century as to have a keepsake of the recently deceased. As time went on the photographers got more and more creative but once photography became more affordable and accessible the need for post-mortem photographs decreased and eventually faded into a practice of the past leaving behind only a massive amount  of bizarre photographs such as these.
